MCI (Módulo de Control Inteligente)

Nowadays, there are several climate control options and their correct design is an effective way to reduce both maintenance and energy costs, as well as substantially reducing the environmental impact, minimizing CO₂ emissions and reducing the cabinet sizes.

The different alternatives include systems like the Free-Cooling, one of the simplest options that combines ventilation and air conditioning options. If the outdoor temperature is lower than temperature inside the cabinet, the ventilation system is used for cooling purpose instead of the air conditioning system, which reduces the energy consumption as well as the CO₂ emissions.

Other ecologically efficient and low cost option is to create an isolated space inside the cabinet, capable of housing a string of batteries, while keeping them at the optimal temperature with the BattCare system developed by SME, making the batteries useful service life longer while saving the energy necessary to cool the equipment area.

However, the most efficient option without doubt is including the MCI (Módulo de Control Inteligente). This system, developed by SME, measures the outdoor and indoor temperature and humidity, calculating the enthalpy and based on these values, it decides when it is necessary to start the heating resistor to avoid condensation, when it is necessary to start the air conditioning compressor to generate mechanical cold or for dehumidification, when the ventilation by direct air (free-cooling) is possible, bringing energy saving, or when emergency ventilation is required.
